Andre-Pierre Gignac wants to finish his career at Tigres

Andre-Pierre Gignac has said he wants to end his career with Mexican club Tigres despite receiving offers to move elsewhere.

France international forward Gignac said he had rejected more lucrative options to stay with the club he joined from Marseille in 2015.

Although a number of clubs have expressed an interest, notably Brazilian side Santos, Gignac told Multimedios he had no intention of leaving.

"I want to continue on this path and finish my career with Tigres. I have already said that several times, but I don't have everything in my hands," Gignac said, referring to the possibility that a club could trigger his release clause.

"I have already rejected several offers with the opportunity to earn a lot more money than here, because you can't buy passion."

Gignac, who has a year left on his deal, has helped Tigres to a Copa Libertadores final and two runners-up finishes in the CONCACAF Champions League.

After missing out on a place in France's World Cup-winning squad, he defended striker Olivier Giroud, who failed to score.

"What are we talking about? About a tournament where you finish world champion and don't score but you worked for the team," he said. "I'd want to be a forward like that every day.

"Olivier's style is that of a target man and he scored a lot of goals at Arsenal and finished leading scorer in all his clubs.

"For me, there's no discussion to be had. Giroud scored three goals and gave three assists in the Europa League and lost. Giroud played seven games, didn't score and won the World Cup."
