Mexico's Carlos Salcedo joins Eintracht Frankfurt from Deportivo Guadalajara

Eintracht Frankfurt have signed Mexican defender Carlos Salcedo on a permanent transfer.

The 24-year-old joins from Mexican club Deportivo Guadalajara after a successful one-year loan at the German club.

Having spent the 2016-17 on loan at Fiorentina, Salcedo joined Frankfurt last summer, with the Bundesliga club securing an option to make the deal permanent. Die Adler have now triggered the clause and signed the Mexico international to a four-year deal.

Despite two major shoulder injuries going into the season and then again towards the end, Salcedo made 23 competitive appearances for Frankfurt in his first year in the German top flight. He could add a 24th in the DFB-Pokal final against Bayern Munich next weekend.

"Carlos is a player with real presence," Eintracht sporting director Bruno Hubner was quoted as saying on the club's official website. "He can open up play and has bounds of strength. He returned to fitness quicker than we expected after his shoulder injury because he worked hard on his recovery -- that's a mark of his professionalism."

Salcedo is set to appear the 2018 World Cup for Mexico where he could take to the pitch for El Tri in their opening match against Germany on June 17.
