Blerim Dzemaili seals return to Bologna after Montreal loan

Blerim Dzemaili completed his return to Serie A side Bologna on Friday after a year on loan in MLS with the Montreal Impact.

Both clubs are owned by Canadian businessman Joey Saputo. Impact coach Remi Garde said last week that Dzemaili had requested the move.

Dzemaili said on Thursday that he was happy to be back in Italy.

"I had a truly wonderful campaign last season, I got very attached to the club and this is why I asked the president to come back," he said. "My decision to return to Italy was personal and I want to thank Saputo, who understood it.

"I got on well in Canada and had six splendid months there. It's a different type of football to the Italian one, even if it's a lot of fun.

"Bologna had an important first round to the season, the club are growing and this is a very positive thing."

After completing his loan move last May, Dzemaili was a designated player with the Impact, who now have two vacant DP slots to go along with Ignacio Piatti.

Dzemaili scored seven goals and provided 10 assists in 22 games with Montreal.

The Impact have been heavily linked to adding Bologna's Algeria international Saphir Taider in exchange, but that has not been confirmed.
