Newcastle defender Kevin Mbabu is to return to his native Switzerland to spend the season on loan at Young Boys. Mbabu, 21, signed a two-year contract extension earlier this summer and has made five senior appearances for the club since signing in January 2013 from Servette. The full-back made his Premier League debut in a 2-2 draw with Chelsea in September last year. Young Boys finished second in the Swiss Super League last season but currently trail Borussia Monchengladbach 3-1 in their Champions League playoff game, meaning Mbabu could be in line for European football via the Europa League.
