Former Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic has said he would like to become the club's manager one day.
Vidic, who ended his playing career in 2016, has been taking his coaching badges at Ajax after organising a spell at the club through former United teammate Edwin van der Sar.
"To be honest, in the future, I would like to be the manager," he told beIN SPORTS after United's 3-1 derby defeat at Manchester City on Sunday.
"For me to criticise Jose Mourinho, as someone who is maybe going to become the manager in the future, is not right and it's not fair. He is the manager and he has won a lot of trophies."
Vidic won five titles and the Champions League under Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford.
But while he stopped short of criticising Mourinho, the 37-year-old said the style of football employed -- Anthony Martial's penalty was United's only shot on target -- would not go down well with fans if the results were not good.
"Is it the Manchester we used to watch? It's not," said Vidic. "It's Mourinho's Manchester, and Mourinho is the type of manager who has always played this type of football.
"When he came to Manchester, you had to accept that he is going to play this kind of football. This is the type of football he played in Inter, in Chelsea. In Madrid, maybe slightly more open.
"If he doesn't bring results, that's the worry because this is Mourinho football. If he is winning, me as a fan, I don't think I would be angry -- if he is winning trophies and bringing results."
