Jose Mourinho hints he'll play strong Manchester United squad vs. Derby County

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has hinted he will pick a strong team in the Carabao Cup in a bid to bounce back from the disappointing draw with Wolves.

United face Championship side Derby County, managed by Frank Lampard, at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

The game will go straight to penalties if the scores are level after 90 minutes and because of the new rule, and the 1-1 draw with Wolves on Saturday, Mourinho has revealed he is "not thinking too much" about rotating his squad.

"I'm just thinking about the matches and this one is a cup match and the rules change," he said. "In this moment, you don't even have the possibility of, after a draw, playing 30 more minutes -- you go straight to a penalty shootout which obviously is a 50-50 situation.

"So it is a match of 90 minutes which we have to try and win and the choice of the players is based on that. We have to try and win."

Mourinho has already confirmed 19-year-old full-back Diogo Dalot will start while Ander Herrera, Ashley Young, Scott McTominay, Eric Bailly, Anthony Martial and Juan Mata are all in need of games.

Nemanja Matic is available again after serving a one-match suspension.

The match will be Lampard's first as a manager against his former Chelsea boss Mourinho and the Portuguese coach has been impressed with the 40-year-old's switch to the dugout.

Derby are sixth in the Championship having won five of their first nine games including a 3-1 win over Brentford at Pride Park on Saturday.

"I don't consider them favourites because it is really hard to do that in the Championship -- such a difficult competition and is becoming a good competition with so many good teams that it is difficult to qualify and say this team is a candidate," said Mourinho.

"But I think when Frank goes there he goes with the intention of being promoted.

"He has experienced players, he has good players coming from good academies like Chelsea and Liverpool.

"They are playing well, they are in the fight for promotion and we all know that a fight in that competition will be for promotion, for playoffs and will last until the end."
