Freddy Adu has been formally added to the Las Vegas Lights' roster ahead of the club's first regular-season home game on Saturday.
The former U.S. international has played with the new USL club on a trial basis throughout the preseason -- including a game against his former club D.C. United -- and his contract details are now complete.
Adu, 28, missed the Lights' first game last weekend, a 3-2 win at fellow expansion team Fresno FC, after posting on Twitter that his registration was not finished in time.
But the second-division USL confirmed on Thursday night that Adu is available to face Reno 1868 FC on Saturday at Cashman Field.
Adu has been out of the game since 2016, when he played with the Tampa Bay Rowdies in the NASL, but he wrote in January that he was interested in returning.
The Lights will be Adu's 14th professional club in as many years, including loans, after he made his MLS debut as a 14-year-old in 2004.
Adu has made 17 appearances for the United States senior team, most recently in 2011, though he also played for the Under-23s in Olympic qualifying the following year.
