Serie A clubs will wear 'Genoa in our hearts' prematch shirts

Serie A clubs will wear a prematch shirt which reads "Genoa in our hearts" in honour of those who lost their lives in the Ponte Morandi disaster, the league has confirmed.

Following the motorway bridge's collapse, 39 people have died, with many more injured and both local sides -- Genoa and Sampdoria -- saw their opening fixtures against AC Milan and Fiorentina respectively postponed.

"As sign of participation and solidarity with the victims of the Genoa tragedy, Serie A will start, as has already been announced, a fund which will be go to the needs of the Genovese population in accordance with the local authorities," an official statement read.

"To show our togetherness and to dedicate our thoughts to the victims of Morandi Bridge and to their families, in all the matches of the second weekend of football in Serie A, the players and the officials will walk onto the pitch in a commemorative shirt which demonstrates that the hearts of everyone are with Genoa."
