Gabon dismiss Jose Antonio Camacho

Jose Antonio Camacho's troubled spell as Gabon coach has come to an end, with the Gabonese Football Federation confirming his exit on Wednesday.

The former Spain coach has overseen a troubled international break in which the Panthers needed a second-half equaliser from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to rescue a point at home against minnows Burundi in Africa Cup of Nations qualification.

On Tuesday, they were defeated 1-0 by Zambia in an international friendly which proved to be Camacho's last match in charge.

The 63-year-old was appointed on the eve of the 2017 AFCON tournament - hosted by Gabon - and oversaw a muddled campaign in which the Central Africans were eliminated in the group stage.

His troubled tenure ends with just two wins in 17 matches for the Panthers, who are currently ranked 86th in the world.
