Albania and Romania charged by UEFA over supporter trouble

UEFA has charged the Albanian and Romanian football associations over fan behaviour during their sides' match at Euro 2016 on Sunday.

European football's governing body says it has opened disciplinary proceedings against Albania for a "field invasion" by a fan, and lighting and throwing fireworks, while Romania supporters lit flares after their side's national anthem was played in Lyon.

UEFA did not specify when its disciplinary panel will judge the cases.

Both associations face additional sanctions for incidents at earlier Euro 2016 matches, involving fireworks and an offensive Albanian banner.

Albania beat Romania 1-0 on Sunday to secure a third-place finish in Group A and potentially book themselves a spot in the round of 16.

Albania must wait until Wednesday to find out if they will advance as one of the four best third-place teams, while Romania were eliminated from the competition with the defeat.
