Diego Maradona demanded that journalists respect his privacy after he was filmed having lunch on Monday amid a massive media frenzy since arriving in Mexico.
Maradona, 57, was named manager of second-tier Dorados de Sinaloa on Sept. 6 and will oversee his first match in charge of the Ascenso MX club on Monday night against Cafetaleros de Tapachula (10 p.m. ET, ESPN3).
After meeting his players at his hotel, Maradona stepped out into the lobby to scold journalists, asking them to concentrate on covering the sport, and not what he eats or drinks. "That is not OK," Maradona said.
On Sunday night, Maradona had complained to a local television station that he was being filmed at inappropriate times and without his consent.
The Argentina legend's new club Dorados are off to a poor start this season, having only achieved three points out of a possible 15. They are 13th in the 15-team league, joint bottom of the table.
Maradona, 57, is considered one of the greatest players of all time after a career that peaked in 1986 when he captained Argentina to their second and last World Cup title.
He has had short stints coaching clubs in Argentina and the United Arab Emirates, but his longest spell in charge was with Argentina, who he led at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
