The 2019 Gold Cup final will be held at Chicago's Soldier Field, CONCACAF has announced. The 2019 tournament will mark the third time Soldier Field has hosted the final, having done so in 2007 and 2013, and the venue will set a record by hosting Gold Cup matches for the sixth time. "CONCACAF is very excited to bring once more our premier tournament to Chicago. This is truly a remarkable city that welcomes and unites fans from across the region, who share the love for our game," said CONCACAF president Victor Montagliani. The 2019 Gold Cup will see the field expanded from 12 teams to 16 teams. The six teams that participated in the final round of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup -- Costa Rica, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Trinidad & Tobago and the U.S. -- will qualify for the 2019 Gold Cup automatically. The remaining 10 teams will qualify based on their performances in qualifying for the 2019-20 CONCACAF Nations League. Fourteen other U.S. venues have been chosen to host matches, with games also scheduled to be held in the Caribbean and Central America. Soldier Field has also hosted matches at other high profile events, including the 1994 FIFA World Cup, the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup, and the 2016 Copa America Centenario. "It is fitting that Chicago -- the most American of American cities -- has been selected to host the championship match of the 2019 Gold Cup," said Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel. "We look forward to welcoming some of the game's greatest players to the pitch at Soldier Field -- and their fans to our great and welcoming city. This is a great opportunity for Chicago, and we are all anticipating another competitive and exciting tournament."
