Chapecoense's recovery from a plane crash that killed 19 players in 2016 and Barcelona's comeback win against Paris Saint-Germain are among the nominees for this year's Laureus World Sports Awards. Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo have also been nominated for prizes, with the winners revealed at an event in Monaco on Feb. 27. Chapecoense and Barca have both been nominated in the World Comeback of the Year category. After a plane crash killed 71 of 77 people on board en route to the Copa Sudamericana final just over a year ago, Brazilian club Chapecoense were forced to rebuild the club. Given the circumstances, that they ended the Brasileirao campaign eighth was an astonishing achievement. Barca were nominated for their turnaround against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League round of 16 earlier this year. The Spanish side lost the first leg in Paris 4-0, but recorded a 6-1 win in the return game at the Camp Nou, with the last three goals coming in the final seven minutes of the game. Celebrations after Sergi Roberto's stoppage-time winner provoked a micro-earthquake in the Catalan city. Roger Federer, Justin Gatlin, Sally Pearson and Valentino Rossi are also nominated for the same award. Real Madrid, meanwhile, have been nominated for World Team of the Year after winning La Liga, the Champions League, the Spanish Super Cup, the UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup in 2017. Zinedine Zidane's side are in competition with France's Davis Cup Team, the Golden State Warriors, the New England Patriots, Mercedes' Formula One team and New Zealand's America's Cup Sailing Team. Ronaldo, who played a large part in Madrid's success, is nominated for the World Sportsman of the Year award along with Federer, Mo Farah, Lewis Hamilton, Rafael Nadal and Chris Froome. Elsewhere, PSG forward Kylian Mbappe is up for the World Breakthrough of the Year award, and Sunderland's support of Bradley Lowery in his battle with cancer is a nominee for the Best Sporting Moment of the Year. Lowery, a six-year-old who died earlier this year, had neuroblastoma -- a rare type of cancer. He first came to the attention of many football fans because of his friendship with Bournemouth striker Jermain Defoe, who played at the time for Sunderland -- the club Bradley supported. His foundation has since raised hundreds of thousands of pounds.
