Brave Horoya of Guinea held Egyptian giants Al Ahly to a 0-0 draw in their CAF Champions League quarter final first leg in Conakry on Friday night, denying the Egyptian giants opponents an away goal.

Played in hot and humid conditions, the pace of the game was slow and the first half almost completely devoid of chances.

However, Salah Mohsen had two excellent opportunities to give his side the lead in the second period, the first when he found himself one-on-one with Horoya goalkeeper Germain Berthe, but could not beat the stopper.

He then had another clear chance when he was played in on goal, only to miss the target.

"We played a good game despite the difficulties we faced such as high temperature, humidity and the poor condition of the pitch," Ahly assistant coach Mohamed Youssef told his club's website [as per Ahram Online].

"We will immediately prepare for the second leg which we must win. I hope our fans will fill the stadium in the second leg to support us in our bid to reclaim the Champions League crown."

Champions Wydad Casablanca lost 1-0 at Algerian side ES Setif with Senegalese defender Isla Diomande scoring on 16 minutes.

The home side should have won by a greater margin as El Habib Bougelmouna missed from close-range and then Abdelmoumene Djabou put his shot wide when well-placed.

The second legs will be played next weekend, with the winners of these two ties to meet in the semi finals.
