Thierry Henry has agreed to become coach of Ligue 1 club Bordeaux, according to reports in France. Gus Poyet has been suspended as manager of Bordeaux and is expected to leave his post following a reported clash with the board over the sale of forward Gaetan Laborde to Montpellier and, despite the Ligue 1 season being underway, the club are currently without a manager. And both RMC and L'Equipe are reporting that Henry, who enjoyed a stellar club career with Arsenal, Barcelona and the France national team, will replace Poyet. RMC reports that the club's prospective new American owners, who agreed to buy Bordeaux from M6 at the end of July, still needed to validate the agreement. A report from Sud Ouest says that Arsene Wenger has been considered by Bordeaux as a possible sporting director. Wenger spoke recently about the sacrifices Henry needs to make in order to succeed as a manager. Henry had been a coach at Arsenal before becoming Roberto Martinez's assistant coach with the Belgium national team and helped the Red Devils to a third-place finish at the World Cup. The 41-year-old, France's record goal scorer, would join Patrick Vieira as the latest member of the national team's 1998 World Cup-winning squad to manage in the country's top flight, after the former Arsenal midfielder joined Nice this season. Bordeaux face Gent in the first leg of their Europa League playoff on Thursday before welcoming Monaco in Ligue 1.
