New St Mirren kit has 'scout' badges to reward fans for achievements

Scottish Championship side St Mirren have come up with a quirky, unique gimmick to help sell replicas of their new 2017-18 home shirt.

As conceived by kit manufacturers Joma, the Buddies' new jersey will feature iron-on badges that fans can add to prove the lengths they've gone to in order to support their club.

For example, fans with season tickets will be able to customise their shirt with a badge, as will fans who are members of the St Mirren supporters' trust.

There are also little golden badges to denote fans who regularly travel to away games, and for fans who "know the history" of the club.

As you may have guessed, the immediate reaction from St Mirren supporters hasn't been overly positive, with many likening the idea to being back in the Boy Scouts.

To that end, we can only wonder if St Mirren are offering road safety awareness badges to fans who flawlessly observe the Green Cross Code on the way to the stadium.
