Sebastian Abreu throws table at fans after insults in Chilean league game

Audax Italiano striker Sebastian Abreu lost his temper and threw a table at his club's fans after a goalless draw against Antofagasta in Chile's top flight on Sunday.

The former Uruguay international, who came on as a substitute in the 22nd minute, was upset that some fans insulted him after the final whistle.

Abreu picked up a table that was on the field and threw it toward the stands, though it fell short and crashed to the ground.

Nicknamed "El Loco," or "The Madman," Abreu, who will likely face a ban for the incident, joked about it on Twitter by posting a photo of himself with Uruguay compatriot Sebastian Flores.

"Welcoming Sebastian Flores to lighten my day a little after the night I had, which remains an anecdote and I hope the team comes out of this bad spell and in case of doubt, this table is screwed [to the floor]."

Abreu, 41, set a record in December by signing with Audax, his 26th club. He has also played for clubs in Uruguay, Spain, Argentina, Mexico, Ecuador, Israel, Brazil, Paraguay, El Salvador.

He has yet to score in three starts and nine appearances for Audax, who are winless in their past seven league games and third from bottom in the table.
