Atletico to help raise funds for Egypt terror victims with Al Ahly friendly

Atletico Madrid will play Egyptian side Al Ahly in Alexandria later this month in a "Match for Peace" to raise funds for the families of victims of the Nov. 24 terror attack in Egypt.

The match takes place at the Borgh-al-Arab Stadium, which has an 84,000 capacity, on Dec. 30.

The clubs will donate 100 percent of the revenue to the relatives of victims. More than 300 people were killed and 128 injured when a bomb exploded inside a mosque on the Sinai Peninsula.

An Atletico statement said: "After returning from their Christmas vacation, our players will have their final match of the year against the most successful Egyptian and African team.

"It will be an encounter in which peace and the spreading of it will be the main aim, promoting a message of love between people. All the proceeds from ticket sales will go to the families of the victims of the terror attacks in Egypt."

In 2011, Atletico played a friendly against Zamalek to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the Egyptian club.
