Angola down South Africa to clinch COSAFA U-17 Cup

Angola defeated South Africa 1-0 in the final of the COSAFA U-17 Cup in Port Louis, Mauritius on Sunday to clinch the regional title for the first time.

Osvaldo Capemba's winner also ensures that Os Palancas Negras will represent Southern Africa at the U-17 African Cup of Nations in Tanzania next year.

Capemba netted Angola's winner in the fifth minute after beating Bontle Molefe from close range.

Less than 15 minutes later, Boitumelo Radiopane had the best chance of the game for South Africa, but could only slam his effort over the bar.

Angola had reached the final after destroying Namibia 7-0 in their semi final, while the Amajimbos had defeated hosts Mauritius 2-0.

Prince Tjiuenza, one of the tournament's outstanding players, netted the opener for Namibia earlier on Sunday as they defeated Mauritius 2-1 to win the third-placed playoff.

Jeremy Kawoa equalised for the hosts, before Penouua Kandjii bagged the winner.
