Sharks rout Griquas to secure home semifinal

The Sharks secured a home Currie Cup semifinal with a 41-11 rout of the Griquas in Kimberley on Saturday afternoon.

The visitors ran in seven tries to the Griquas' one to guarantee a top-two finish for the Durbanites.

George Whitehead opened the scoring for the Griquas with a penalty, but it was one traffic after that.

Sharks wing Lwazi Mvovo scored a brace and so did his replacement, Leolin Zas. On the right-wing, S'bu Nkosi dotted down in his first start since recovering from injury, while Akker van der Merwe and Jeremy Ward also got their names on the score sheet.

The home team's captain Kyle Steyn scored a consolation try in the 77th minute in his last outing for the Griquas.

The Sharks' semifinal opponents will be confirmed after the Blue Bulls host Western Province in Pretoria in Saturday's second and final fixture.
