The moments that mattered in the Crusaders' Super Rugby final win over the Lions in Christchurch.

5th minute: Ruan Combrinck through with a clean break, but is caught about seven metres from the Crusaders' tryline. The Lions take the wrong options at the breakdown and the Crusaders manage to get a turnover.

17th minute: Crusaders with their first real attacking opportunity. Great work off the lineout let their big backs run it up. The New Zealand team creates space for George Bridge on the left wing, but he is tackled out in the corner by three Lions players.

19th minute: Seta Tamanilu powers over in the right-hand corner after a lovely buildup and great pass by Richie Mo'unga. The speed of the Crusaders' recycling in the buildup was exceptional.

29th minute: Elton Jantjies has a bit of a brain explosion and takes the ball over his own goalline and dots down. The Crusaders get a penalty from the resulting scrum and take the three points.

34th minute: Elton Jantjies' terrible up-and-under is taken by Richie Mo'unga, who beats two defenders and sets Jack Goodhue on a run to the line. Bryn Hall then finds David Havili, who powers his way over the line to score.

49th minute: The Lions can't take advantage of great field position. They spend about three or four minutes close to the Crusaders' line, but just can't get over to score.

52th minute: Lions flank Cyle Brink bumps off Sam Whitelock to sprint 20 metres to score a try to keep the Lions in the game. Elton Jantjies slots the penalty to make it a 10-point game.

58th minute: The Lions get a penalty on the 10-metre line. They have all the momentum, but decide to kick for goal. Ruan Combrinck steps up, but his kick goes wide. Lions could have gone for another lineout there.

62nd minute: The Crusaders string 12 phases together and show their quality with ball in hand, before Matt Todd and Codie Taylor combined to put Mitchell Drummond over for a try that gave them a bit of breathing space.

66th minute: Ryan Crotty is yellow-carded for cynical play at the breakdown. Malcolm Marx scored two minutes later for the Lions to make it a 12-point game with 12 minutes to play.

70th minute: The Crusaders doesn't need 15 players on the field to score tries. They virtually kill off the game when Scott Barrett powers over under the sticks from close range. It all started with a quick lineout from David Havili, who set George Bridge free.

78th minute: This basically sums up the Lions' night against the Crusaders. They charge and charge at the line, but the ball is eventually turned over and Matt Todd kicks it off the park to start wild celebrations in Christchurch.
