Wandisile Simelane scored a hat trick in South Africa's 30-17 victory over Ireland at World Rugby U20 Championships in France on Sunday.

However, the victory may have come at a price, after flyhalf Damian Willemse went off with a knee injury during the match. The Stormers man, who has on the sidelines with an ice pack on his knee, is in danger of missing South Africa next fixture against hosts France on Thursday.

The Junior Springboks, who were unconvincing in their first match of the tournament against Georgia, maintained their unbeaten record by outscoring the Irish by five tries to two. Zak Burger, Miller du Plessis and Simelane all scored for the South Africans, while Willemse kicked a conversion and fullback Gianni Lombard slotted a penalty.

Ireland scored through Caelan Doris and Michael Silvester, while Conor Dean converted both tries and kicked a penalty.
