Uganda's newly appointed captain Micheal Okorach has warned that they are not going to Zimbabwe's popular tourist destination for a holiday, but to try and win the 2018 Victoria Falls Sevens title.

Speaking to KweseESPN before the team traveled to Zimbabwe ahead of the tournament which starts on Saturday, Okorach said they not only to use the tournament to prepare for the World Sevens Series qualifiers in Hong Kong and the Commonwealth Games, but to win the trophy.

"Playing well in Zimbabwe and winning the trophy will be good in terms of motivating us ahead of the bigger tournaments ahead," said Okorach who took over as captain after Eric Kasiita was dropped because he is traveling to the United States for further his studies.

Asked about facing hosts and defending champions Zimbabwe, the experienced player made it clear that they have beaten the Cheetahs before and could stop them again in their own turf.

Uganda Cranes, who are coached by former Kenyan international Tolbert Onyango, are in Group A alongside Zambia A, Goshawks, Zambezi Steelers and Spartans.

Onyango will miss two of his players Phillip Wokorach and Puis Ogena, who will instead feature in the Kenya Cup final for Kabras Sugar after progression alongside KCB from semi-finals last weekend.

"This tournament in Zimbabwe is a good buildup for us to check the team ahead of the Commonwealth Games and the Series qualifiers in Hong Kong. We are confident that the team will put up a good show," the Chief Executive Officer of the Union, Ramzy Olinga told KweseESPN.
