Exeter back row Don Armand has been recalled by Eddie Jones after England lost both Nathan Hughes and Courtney Lawes to knee injuries.

Armand won his only Test cap on the summer tour of Argentina last June, but he has seemed surplus to requirements since.

However, England's struggles at the breakdown in this year's Six Nations allied with the injuries to Hughes and Lawes have led Jones to turn to the Zimbabwe-born forward.

Hughes was forced off after just 24 minutes of England's defeat in Paris, and while Lawes was able to finish the match both have now been ruled out of next weekend's clash with Ireland.

Neither forward was named in the 32-man squad announced on Sunday evening for the Twickenham clash. The pair will undergo scans on Monday to ascertain the severity of their injuries.

Captain Dylan Hartley was included -- alongside both Jamie George and Luke Cowan-Dickie -- despite sitting out the France match with injury, while there was also a recall for prop Alec Hepburn and lock Nick Isiekwe.

England squad for Ireland Test:

Backs: Brown, Care, Daly, Earle, Farrell, Ford, Joseph, Lozowski, May, Slade, Smith, Solomona, Te'o, Watson, Wigglesworth.

Forwards: Armand, Cole, Cowan-Dickie, Ewels, George, Hartley, Haskell, Hepburn, Isiekwe, Itoje, Kruis, Launchbury, Marler, Robshaw, Simmonds, Sinckler, M. Vunipola.
