Duane Vermeulen is set to quit French Top 14 club Toulon and return to South African Super Rugby side the Stormers next season, according to reports in France.

L'Equipe say the Springbok loose-forward has already made the decision as he aims to prepare for the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.

The 31-year-old, who has 39 test caps and returned the Bok side after an injury absence in their end of season tour to Europe, left the Stormers for Toulon in 2015.

His experience and strength will be key for the Boks in Japan and by returning to the Cape Town side, he will play in the same pack as the likes of Siya Kolisi and Eben Etzebeth.
