Joey Carbery will start at fly-half for Ireland against Fiji after Joe Schmidt made wholesale changes to his starting XV.

Carbery starts only his second Test match in place of Johnny Sexton, who is rested, while centre Chris Farrell is in line to make his international debut.

In all, Schmidt has made 13 personnel and one positional change for Fiji's visit with Andrew Conway -- who switches to fullback -- and Devin Toner the only two players retained from the defeat of South Africa.

Rhys Ruddock will captain the side, as he did on Ireland's summer tour of the U.S. and Japan.

Meanwhile, British & Irish Lions prop Jack McGrath will make his first Ireland appearance of the autumn as he is selected alongside Rob Herring and Andrew Porter in the front row.

Ireland team to face Fiji:

Conway, Sweetnam, Farrell, McCloskey, Kearney, Carbery, Marmion; J. McGrath, Herring, Porter, Dillane, Toner, Ruddock (captain), Murphy, Conan.

Replacements: Tracy, Healy, Furlong, Treadwell, Stander, L. McGrath, Keatley, Henshaw.
