South Africa centre Rohan Janse van Rensburg has signed for Sale Sharks on loan until February.

The Lions midfielder will link up with Sale later this week after receiving rave reviews from former Super Rugby teammates Faf de Klerk and Josh Strauss, both of whom play for the Sharks.

"Rohan is a powerful, highly abrasive centre and we are very happy that he will be joining up with us," said Sale boss Steve Diamond.

"He's only 23 and I'm sure he will be an excellent addition to our squad.

"He was recommended by Faf de Klerk and Josh Strauss and everyone here is looking forward to welcoming Rohan to the club."

Van Rensburg will rejoin the Lions in February in time for the start of next year's Super Rugby campaign.

Elsewhere in the Aviva Premiership, Harlequins have also bolstered their ranks with the signing of former Leicester scrum-half Jono Kitto on a short-term deal.

With Quins short of options at No. 9, director of rugby John Kingston has turned to the former New Zealand U20 international to add depth to his squad.

"I am delighted we have agreed terms with Jono to come into Harlequins immediately," said Kingston. "The injuries in the scrum-half position meant we needed to find the necessary experience and expertise for a tough and important phase of our season."

"Jono fits that criteria and having spoken at length with him, I also know he is the type of character who will fit into the environment we are building at Harlequins."
