Chris Robshaw welcomes Willi Heinz into England squad

Rugby, Aviva Premiership

Chris Robshaw insists England see nothing unusual in Willi Heinz's call-up to Eddie Jones' training squad.

Head coach Jones appeared nonplussed earlier this week when quizzed on adding former New Zealand under-21s star Heinz to his England ranks.

The 30-year-old half-back qualifies for England through his grandmother, and was drafted into Jones' training squad with five top Premiership sides still on club duty.

Gloucester scrum-half Heinz even played against England with the Crusaders in 2014 -- but Robshaw cited Elliot Daly as playing against and now for the British & Irish Lions to downplay any issue.

"Every week you're playing against guys that you're sharing a room with the following week so it doesn't matter at all," said Robshaw, of Heinz's call-up.

"You could say it's unusual for Elliot Daly to play against the Lions and now go and play for the Lions so in every situation there's things like that.

"We're used to playing against each other then sharing rooms and going out for dinner and playing against each other -- it's professional sport."

Next month, Robshaw will return to the country of his Test debut some eight years after that international bow, when England head to Argentina.

As the Harlequins flanker quickly skimmed the various successes and tribulations in a turbulent 55-cap Test career, he comfortably shrugged off missing out on this summer's Lions tour to New Zealand.

"A lot of us have spoken about that, and yes we missed out, but we are very much looking forward to Argentina," said Robshaw.

"With a lot of players away [with the Lions] this is going to be a very challenging England tour, but it's exciting as well."

Asked if he has considered the prospect of the Lions' stand-by list, Robshaw continued: "I think you park that. If something happens, fantastic, but if not, all my attention is with England, and that's where it will stay unless things do change."
