That was magnificent all round from England, and that is a fine way to end a trying tour and a trying losing run.
70'		South Africa think they've disrupted the England scrum, but the drive wasn't straight and England get the penalty. That will alleviate the pressure, and time is beginning to work against South Africa here.
69'		But from the lineout, England disrupt the maul brilliantly and Ben Youngs lets out a huge roar as the penalty goes England's way. That's the 11th penalty against the Springboks today.

Farrell eventually opts for a low grubber into touch on the South Africa five-metre line.
63'		Good take by Dyantyi under pressure on a high ball, but the fact his kit is almost pristine says a lot about how involved he's been in this game.
62'		England building well in midfield here. Good handling, safe options being taken. Slade trying to burrow forward. Now Itoje taking it on. Youngs feeds over and over, and then slips it back to Farrell who tries an audacious drop goal... and comes nowhere close. That was poor decision making at the end of a good move by England.

58'		Farrell lining up the penalty, a much simpler effort than Daly's last pop at goal. Through it goes, England lead by five, and they've bounced back well from that sudden try from the Springboks.

56'		Jantjies' difficult day continues as a seemingly simple clearance is semi-blocked by Wilson and England can now attack. But then their handling lets them down, and the play comes back for an offside against South Africa. De Klerk is the man who was offside, and that will be Jantjies last contribution to the game, with Handre Pollard about to make an appearance from the bench.
53'		Offside against Gelant which presents a very difficult opportunity for Elliot Daly from the left flank. It's 45 metres and a very difficult angle, especially with the conditions, and he's dragged that across the face of the posts. No good.

The substitutions making a difference, and Kitshoff, with his shock of red hair, really is an eye-catching alternative for South Africa.

40'		It's bang in front of the posts, and he makes no mistake. Three points for South Africa, six for England, and they trot in to the dressing rooms for a slice of orange and a fresh shirt.
40'		An up and under is caught by Mtawarira but when it falls to ground, the penalty comes in to play. Jantjies will have his second kick at goal to try and break the Springboks' duck.
40'		Scrum for South Africa on the English side of the halfway line. De Klerk picks and runs and South Africa make 10 metres. Nkosi trying to find some room on the right but to no avail. This will be the last attack of the first half and there will be a penalty advantage as the hooter goes for England being off feet.

39'		Mike Brown looked like he was making progress with a nice cut, then he slips and has the ball knocked out of his hand in midfield. Five handling errors by England, six by South Africa and that pretty much sums up the first half.
38'		Vermeulen takes a high ball right on touch in the England half and is forced into touch. Time ticking away for South Africa to get on the board before halftime.

36'		About 21 metres from the posts, Farrell goes through his routine and knocks it over the posts. That's what it takes on a day like this - gain some ground, punish mistakes and keep your own head.
34'		Mistake by Jantjies as he drops a pass to him and England are on the attack in a flash, Itoje and Robshaw the men who latch on to Jantjies mistake. But then Youngs' kick through is charged down and South Africa's defence gets its shape back. Penalty advantage for England, and that will be invoked as Youngs decides to try a kick towards the corner. It's gathered by the Springboks, and so it will be a shot at goal by Farrell.
33'		South Africa are bashing forward effectively inside the England half, but Tom Curry manages to break up the play and England will have the put-in at the next scrum. A huge roar goes up from one of the England players in support of his teammate's effort.
31'		Another huge hit on Hughes, this time by Du Toit. Then comes the most entertaining portion of the game so far. Nkosi is set free on the right and chips ahead cleverly but May recovers well deep in his own in-goal area -- so he scrambles away from a couple of would-be tacklers then boots the ball away under pressure. That was fun!
29'		It's raining again, and Vermeulen goes down under very little pressure before losing grip of the ball as it slides around like a bar of soap. This game might descend into a hopeless battle of kicking ping-pong, as there's not a lot either team can do right in these conditions.
27'		South Africa penalised for pushing too early on a scrum, and England try to make something happen in midfield. Another sublime pass from Cipriani sets Daly away, then Farrell chips wide to May. Eventually the move breaks down as South Africa disrupt the pass, but then they panic and don't release at the breakdown, gifting England a penalty. Du Toit was the guilty party there. Daly aims the penalty for touch and boots it straight out the back of the in-goal area. A perfect encapsulation of the match so far. Scrum South Africa.
24'		Knocked on by Robshaw in contact and South Africa have the ball in their own half. De Klerk's up and under doesn't go far enough and there's a knock on by South Africa as they chase it. This is very end-of-season fare so far from both teams, even if only one of them is actually at the end of their season.
23'		It's taken 22 minutes, but we've just had the first glimpse of the fabulous sleight of hand that Danny Cipriani possesses. His slick handling sets Mike Brown away, only for England to be turned over at the breakdown. Still, a nice injection of creativity by Cipriani.
21'		Scrum now for England, but as Hughes tries to pick up from the base of it, Faf de Klerk absolutely destroys him with a pouncing tackle. That's an incredible cameo from De Klerk, and exactly what this game needed. If he can do this to someone twice his size, perhaps others will start following his lead and try some things!
19'		Itoje penalised for hands in the ruck deep inside his own half but it's testament to the conditions that rather than have a shot at goal, South Africa go for touch.
16'		South Africa win the ball back and a low kick goes out into touch. For all of the thrills and spills of the opening stages of the first two Tests, this one is a damp squib so far, in every sense.
15'		After the scrum took an age to get going, Jantjies gives it another big up and under, and England are under a little bit of pressure only for Kolisi to be penalised for kicking the ball out of Hughes' hands. England will clear into South Africa territory.
12'		A good injection of pace from Jonny May as he escapes down the right flank, but his chip ahead is deflected in the air and then tidied up by South Africa. Still, England get it back after a kick, try to develop something and then Cipriani's pass is too sharp for Tom Curry who knocks on.
11'		An offside call goes against South Africa deep in England's half. This game is lacking the intensity of the first two Tests so far -- hardly surprising, but nonetheless disappointing.
10'		Farrell slots it, the English contingent in the crowd raise a cheer and the tourists are on the board first.

8'		Cipriani's first touch of the game is quickly turned into a low kick for touch, and England had a penalty advantage allowing Owen Farrell a look at the posts 10 metres inside the Springboks half.
7'		South Africa trying to develop a maul from that lineout, but it's well disrupted by England. De Klerk will pull some strings as South Africa work through the phases. Kicked over the top but May again deals with a skidding ball well.
6'		Another penalty against England, this time for Sinckler going in off feet. It's heaved into touch midway inside the England half, and South Africa will have a lineout.
6'		And it's wide. Missed on the left side. It was a fair distance and angle, and difficult conditions for the plant foot of any kicker.
5'		Vermeulen takes a very good lineout ball and the England push comes far too early. Early penalty for England, and Jantjies will line up a shot at goal for some early points.
3'		Faf de Klerk is opting for a high ball from the base of the ruck, as is Ben Youngs. Early stages, but a clear feeling out of both sides under the high ball in these conditions.
1'		An early exchange of kicks and the first high ball goes sliding through everyone's hands. That's going to be a theme today, it is extremely wet out there. Still, Jonny May takes a good mark when another high ball is chipped into England's 22.

1'		Anthem time, and they are perfectly observed in what could be the last Test at Newlands. The Springboks will be keen to send it off in style, and they are the side with the momentum. They might want to fix their unbelievably slow starts, however, as they've found themselves behind by double digits in no time in both of the first two Tests.
1'		Now here come South Africa -- out they run under a fog of fireworks, the heavy sky in Cape Town really holding that smoke. There has been an outgoing drought in the city, but there has been a downpour today and the pitch will be heavy, even though the rain has now stopped in time for kick-off.
1'		The teams are finishing their preparations in the dressing rooms and making their way down the tunnel. First to emerge on to the Newlands pitch is Owen Farrell and England -- his first two Tests as captain have not gone according to plan.

1'		With kick-off ticking closer, here's what Danny Cipriani had to say earlier this year when ESPN asked him to play a game of word association.
1'		Meanwhile, all the talk around the England team has centred on Danny Cipriani, who makes his first international start in 10 years. Widely thought of as one of the most creative players in the English game, he gets his chance in an Eddie Jones selection that has three other changes. Chris Robshaw is back in the pack after missing out entirely last week, while both Mako and Billy Vunipola drop out with Joe Marler and Nathan Hughes coming in.
1'		Home coach Rassie Erasmus has taken the opportunity to freshen things up in his side, with five changes to the side that won last week's second Test and sealed the series. Four of the changes are in the backline, with Warrick Gelant named at fullback, Jesse Kriel and Andre Esterhuizen selected in an all-new midfield, and Elton Jantjies picked at fly-half. Chiliboy Ralepelle starts at hooker in the only change to the starting pack.
