Olympic champion Bradley Wiggins set for Indoor Rowing Championships

Olympic Sports, Cycling, Endurance

British Rowing has welcomed the news that eight-time Olympic medalist and former Tour de France winner Bradley Wiggins will take part in the British Indoor National Rowing Championships in December.

Wiggins, who was cleared of allegations of wrongdoing by UKAD this week, has been in training with two-time Rowing Olympic champion James Cracknell and has entered the event,  which will see him face some of Team GB's current crop of talent.

"I don't think it [his participation] will overshadow the events," a British Rowing spokesperson told ESPN. "The fact that he has chosen rowing is absolutely brilliant for us. There will be a GB rowing team with some of the Olympic and Paralympic athletes there.

"It will just be a fun and exciting event to see current GB rowing athletes competing, and Bradley racing in the same competition. It will be interesting to see the times they are both setting on the day."

The Dec. 9 event will take place at the Lee Valley Velodrome in London, where Wiggins raced his penultimate cycling event in 2016. Entry to the indoor competition is also open to the public.
