Bills QB Josh Allen still out; Derek Anderson to start again

NFL, Buffalo Bills

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Buffalo Bills rookie quarterback Josh Allen, who is nursing an elbow injury, will not play next Monday night against the New England Patriots, coach Sean McDermott announced Monday.

McDermott said Derek Anderson will again start at quarterback against the Patriots over Nathan Peterman. Anderson threw three interceptions and lost a fumble in Sunday's 37-5 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, his first start for Buffalo after being signed Oct. 9.

Allen sprained the ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow in an Oct. 14 loss to the Houston Texans. McDermott said last week Allen will not need surgery but continued to list him Monday as week to week.

Running back LeSean McCoy traveled back with the Bills from Indianapolis but remains in the concussion protocol after suffering a head injury Sunday, McDermott said.

The Bills also lost starting defensive end Trent Murphy to a knee injury in Sunday's loss to the Colts. McDermott said he is week to week.
