EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- After a week of optimism and progress, Miami Dolphins wide receiver DeVante Parker (broken middle finger) was a surprise inactive for Sunday's game against the New York Jets.
"He seems fine," coach Adam Gase said earlier this week. "He's itching to play. ... He hasn't complained about anything. He's been aggressive to get out there and catch as many balls as possible. Running wise, he's good. He's good."
Parker, who was a full participant in Dolphins practice Thursday and Friday, said earlier this week that he felt no pain and doesn't have to catch the ball differently despite wearing a pad that tapes his index and middle fingers together during practice. Parker broke the middle finger on his right hand Aug. 12 and didn't play in Week 1.
The Dolphins chose to keep Parker out for one more week.
Albert Wilson will start for Parker again. This will continue to pave the way for Kenny Stills to be the Dolphins' top receiver. He had four catches for 106 yards and two touchdowns in the Dolphins' Week 1 win over the Tennessee Titans.
