Ravens LB C.J. Mosley carted off with bone bruise on knee

CINCINNATI -- Pro Bowl linebacker C.J. Mosley suffered a knee injury on his first series of the game and did not return to the Baltimore Ravens' 34-23 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday night.

Mosley was diagnosed with a bone bruise after being carted off the field, and an MRI after the game revealed no ligament damage, according to coach John Harbaugh.

"It doesn't look to be long-term," Harbaugh said. "We'll just have to see how it responds the next couple of days."

With Mosley out, the Bengals scored touchdowns on four straight drives to take a 28-14 halftime lead, then held off a comeback attempt by the Ravens in the second half.

Ravens defensive coordinator Don "Wink" Martindale has often called Mosley the quarterback of the defense, and Ray Lewis said Mosley is the top middle linebacker in the game. Baltimore replaced him with rookie fourth-round pick Kenny Young.

Mosley, who has gone to the Pro Bowl in three of his first four seasons, is scheduled to be a free agent at the end of the year. He is making $8.7 million this season in his fifth-year option.

The Ravens have 10 days before playing their next game, which is against the Denver Broncos at M&T Bank Stadium.

"The good thing is we have a long week," Harbaugh said. "I don't know if that means he'll be ready for Denver or not. I have no idea."
