Wife of Chargers' Adrian Phillips makes sideline visit at Arrowhead

NFL, Los Angeles Chargers

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The wife of Chargers safety Adrian Phillips made her way from the stands to the team's sideline after her husband was being evaluated for an injury in Saturday night's game against the Chiefs.

During the third quarter of Los Angeles' 30-13 loss at Arrowhead Stadium, Phillips suffered an ankle injury that required several minutes of attention on the field before the team's medical staff took him to a tent on the sideline for further evaluation.

Wanting to make sure her husband was OK, Phillips' wife, Camille, made her way down to the field. The two were married in Cancun in June.

Camille was escorted from the field by a Chargers official. Phillips said he wasn't surprised to see his wife on the field.

"No, but they let her down," Phillips said. "They let her down. A lot of people think she just jumped it, but she was going to jump it regardless. But they ended up letting her down.

"She was concerned. I'm her husband, she cares for me and nobody wants to see their significant other injured like that, especially on the ground for that long. She just wanted to make sure I was OK."

Philips did return to the game and led the Chargers with eight combined tackles. The Texas product said he's disappointed his team did not perform better against the Chiefs.

"All it came down to was execution," Philips said. "And we've been a defense that's been huge on getting the ball back to our offense, and we didn't do that tonight."
