Virginia Tech linebacker Tremaine Edmunds enters NFL draft

Virginia Tech linebacker Tremaine Edmunds will enter this year's NFL draft, he announced on social media Wednesday.

Edmunds is projected as a first-round selection by ESPN's Mel Kiper after he led the Hokies with 109 tackles this season, adding 5.5 sacks, 14 tackles for loss, four QB hurries and three forced fumbles.

"Playing in the NFL has always been a dream of mine," Edmunds said in a statement.

Edmunds' brother, Terrell, will also enter the draft. The pair, along with older brother Trey, now with the New Orleans Saints, were the last of 25 sets of brothers to play under former Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer.

Terrell Edmunds, a safety, played 10 games this season, recording 59 tackles and two interceptions.

Their father, Ferrell Edmunds, was a third-round pick by the Miami Dolphins in 1988, playing seven seasons for the Dolphins and Seahawks and making two Pro Bowl rosters.
