No panic yet for Magpies in Super Netball

Collingwood coach Kristy Keppich-Birrell is far from concerned after the Magpies' winless Super Netball start.

She was far from willing to heap praise on the West Coast Fever, who beat her side by 11 goals on Saturday night.

With a group full of Diamonds stars, Collingwood entered the 2018 season as title favourites.

But after a one-goal opening loss to the Melbourne Vixens, they were outplayed almost all evening at Perth Arena with Fever winning 68-57.

It was an impressive all-round display by the Fever who sit top of the table with two wins to open the season.

Jamaican superstar Jhaniele Fowler hit 62 of 67 goal attempts while at the other end Stacey Francis was a defensive maestro.

Despite that, Magpies coach Keppich-Birrell wasn't overly impressed with what the Fever delivered on their home floor and is confident if her team continues to play the way they are, success will follow.

"There's eight teams that can win this competition so every week's a test," she said.

"Obviously we'd love to have a win on the board but we are really process driven at the moment.

"There's lots of things we are ticking off. It's just a matter of time before those processes start relating to wins."

Meanwhile, Fever coach Stacey Marinkovic couldn't be happier with her team, which missed the finals last year.

"I think we are setting a standard as to how we want to play and I think that in itself speaks volumes," she said.

"We've been able to back up from the first week and it is about consistency.

"When you get seven points it means you've done a pretty good job for three quarters of the game.

"We only dropped one quarter by two, so the girls are really switching in and when the opposition gets a run they've been able to adapt and continue to push themselves."
