The Adelaide 36ers have confirmed the signing of NBL MVP runner-up Demitrius Conger.

The 28-year-old New Yorker led the league in scoring (19.7 points) in his debut NBL season with the Illawarra Hawks and becomes the 36ers' third US import for 2018-19.

Conger will arrive in Adelaide on Thursday after short stints with the Boston Celtics' summer league side and French club Le Mans Sarthe Basket, and is expected to be available for the 36ers' home clash against his old side Illawarra on Saturday.

He averaged almost 20 points a game last season and was named in the All-NBL team after finishing runner-up to Perth guard Bryce Cotton in MVP voting.

The 36ers opted for Conger after cutting import Adris DeLeon, who starred for the Adelaide outfit in their 93-81 home loss to the Sydney Kings despite being told a day earlier of his axing.
