Wildcats sign American sharpshooter in NBL

NBL

The Perth Wildcats have completed their roster for the upcoming NBL season with the signing of American sharpshooter Terrico White.

White has played in America, Israel, Turkey, Russia, Serbia and South Korea during his well-travelled career.

The Wildcats hope White's prowess from long range will complement fellow sharpshooter Bryce Cotton and help the team become a bigger threat from the three-point line.

"The biggest thing for us is he's a legitimate threat from the three-point line and he knows how to play," Wildcats coach Trevor Gleeson said.

"He ticks a lot of the boxes where we probably fell down last season.

"He's also very good in the pick and roll and with his movement off the ball.

"Those assets are hard to guard and with he and Bryce working in tandem together on the perimeter, there's going to be exciting times ahead."

White, who is 196 cms, has twice come close to breaking into NBA ranks.

He was taken with pick No.36 in the 2010 NBA draft by the Detroit Pistons, before a pre-season foot injury ended his rookie season.

After a stint overseas he signed with the Phoenix Suns in 2015, again without playing an NBA game.

The 28-year-old will arrive in Perth next month and said he was looking forward to linking up with the successful franchise.

Boomers trio Nick Kay, Mitch Norton and Tom Jervis have also joined the Wildcats for the upcoming season.
