American import forward David Wear is the latest addition to the Sydney Kings' star-studded NBL roster, signing a two-year deal.

The 27-year-old Wear played in two strong college programs the University of North Carolina (2009-2010) and UCLA (2011 to 2014) before a brief NBA stint with the Sacramento Kings in 2015.

Standing 208cm tall, Wear has a reputation as a three-point marksman, making him an added threat in a multi-faceted Kings front court already featuring ex-NBA centre Andrew Bogut and sharp-shooting Daniel Kickert.

Wear's signature brings to 10 the number of players committed to a Kings roster also featuring former NBL MVPs Jerome Randle and Kevin Lisch.

After the NBA, Wear followed two years in Spain and a season in the NBA G-League with his most recent contract with Osaka Evessa in Japan.

Kings managing director Jeff Van Groningen said Wear's international experience and team-first reputation were factors contributing to his recruitment.

"David has been part of blue-chip college programs, played in Spain and Japan and been a heartbeat away from an NBA career via his G-League experience and a stint with Sacramento," he said.

"While all of that is significant, it's his reputation as a fantastic person that really appeals to us."
