Veteran big man Andrew Bogut has all but ended his 13-year NBA career after signing with the Sydney Kings in Australia's NBL.
The Kings revealed the news via their social media channels Sunday night, confirming a news conference will be held Monday morning to discuss their high-profile acquisition.
Bogut, 33, became the first Australian to be selected with the NBA's No. 1 draft pick when he was taken by the Milwaukee Bucks in 2005. He spent seven seasons with the Bucks before signing with the Golden State Warriors, playing a key role in the franchise's drought-breaking NBA championship in 2015.
Bogut's NBA journey continued with the Dallas Mavericks before a brief stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers and most recently the Los Angeles Lakers.
The announcement comes just weeks after Bogut told ESPN he felt he still had a number of years left in the NBA despite the Lakers requesting waivers on his contract in January.
Bogut, whose career has been plagued by numerous injuries, averaged 9.7 points and 8.7 rebounds throughout his time in the NBA.
Bogut will add more star power to Andrew Gaze's Sydney side that finished the 2017-18 season in seventh place with an 11-17 record.
