The Boomers side which takes to the court at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics could be the "best ever" says young Australian basketball star Jonah Bolden.

Bolden, 22, was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers in the second round of the 2017 draft and was last month offered a rookie contract with the Sixers after spending the 2017-18 season playing in the Israeli Premier League.

Speaking at a media conference in Melbourne after a training session with local NBL side Melbourne United on Wednesday, Bolden said the young crop of players at Andrej Lemanis' disposal is something to get excited about.

"This could be one of the best Australian teams ever come 2020," Bolden said. "Not only because of the amount of NBA talent, but the European and NBL talent as well.

"The combination of all that is good. Sometimes a team full of superstars isn't always the best, sometimes a team with superstars and very good role players is a recipe for success and I think we definitely have that."

Bolden also confirmed he will be meeting up with the 76ers ahead of the 2018-19 NBA season later this month, and admitted while his priorities were with the NBA, the Olympics was another long-term goal.

"Obviously my goal right now is Philly and what I've got ahead, but I'm no doubt thinking about 2020 and the Olympics," Bolden said.
