Wizards reportedly agree to deal with Jeff Green

NBA, Washington Wizards, Cleveland Cavaliers

Veteran forward Jeff Green is leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers to sign a one-year, $2.5 million contract with the Washington Wizards, according to multiple reports.

This is a homecoming for Green, who was born and raised just outside Washington in Prince George's County, Maryland, and spent three seasons at Georgetown.

Green, 31, averaged 10.8 points and 3.2 rebounds in 78 games (13 starts) for the Cavaliers last season.

During the playoffs, he averaged 7.7 points in 22 games. He replaced an injured Kevin Love in the starting lineup for Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals, scoring 19 points to help the Cavaliers reach the NBA Finals.

Green was drafted fifth overall in the 2007 draft by the Boston Celtics, who traded him to the Seattle SuperSonics in a deal that sent Ray Allen to Boston.

Green has career averages of 13.2 points and 4.6 rebounds in 783 games with the Sonics, Oklahoma City Thunder, Celtics, Memphis Grizzlies, Cavaliers, Orlando Magic and LA Clippers.
