Doc Rivers, out for playoffs for first time in decade, not sure 'what to do tomorrow'

NBA, LA Clippers

LA Clippers coach Doc Rivers was mum on his future as his team's season ended Wednesday without a playoff berth for the first time in his tenure.

"I love what I do, but that doesn't mean that you keep doing it every year, do you know what I mean?" Rivers said before the Clippers' 115-100 loss to the Lakers. "I can't even answer the question. I love where we're at as a franchise. I will say that. I would honestly say that a year ago, I don't know if I would have had that same feeling."

Rivers has one season remaining on a five-year contract he signed before the 2014-15 season.

The Clippers had a streak of six straight playoff appearances snapped, and Rivers will sit out the postseason for the first time since 2006-07, a decade-plus run that began with the Boston Celtics.

"I don't even know what to do tomorrow," said Rivers, who is missing the playoffs for just the fourth time in 19 years of coaching.

The Clippers (42-40) were eliminated from playoff contention with a loss to the Denver Nuggets on Saturday, and they finished the season on a four-game losing streak.
