Anthony Davis doesn't miss beat in return for Pelicans

NBA, New Orleans Pelicans

Pelicans star Anthony Davis returned for Saturday night's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers after missing New Orleans' past two games with a left knee injury.

Davis played 36 minutes in the Pelicans' 123-101 victory, recording 30 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks.

"We're going to be a special team,'' Davis said. "We don't feel it. We know it.''

The All-Star big man exited just five minutes into the first quarter of the team's 103-93 loss to the Trail Blazers on Tuesday night in Portland, though it's unclear when exactly he got hurt. He appeared to tweak the knee while battling for position with Portland forward Maurice Harkless, then seemed to aggravate it while going after a long rebound with Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard.

An MRI on Davis' left knee came back negative, Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry said Tuesday.

Davis, 24, has had injuries to his left knee before, in his 2012-13 rookie season and during the 2015-16 season. Both seasons ended early because of the injuries.
