Cody Garbrandt's first title defense set versus TJ Dillashaw at UFC 217

A bantamweight title fight between Cody Garbrandt and TJ Dillashaw has been added to UFC 217 on Nov. 4 in New York.

The UFC officially announced the 135-pound bout on Wednesday. The pay-per-view event will take place at Madison Square Garden.

A middleweight title fight featuring Michael Bisping and Georges St-Pierre will headline the event.

Garbrandt and Dillashaw were originally scheduled to fight at last month's UFC 213 event in Las Vegas, but Garbrandt (11-0) was forced to pull out with a back injury. The two are former teammates at Team Alpha Male in Sacramento, California.

After last month's cancellation, Dillashaw (14-3) attempted to move down in weight and challenge flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson. He ultimately was left waiting when Johnson opted for a different opponent.

Garbrandt, 26, won his title in convincing fashion in December, defeating Dominick Cruz via unanimous decision.

Dillashaw, who now splits training between Colorado and California, is a former champion on a two-fight winning streak.

ESPN.com ranks Dillashaw and Garbrandt as the Nos. 4 and 10 pound-for-pound fighters in the world, respectively.
