One day after calling out his catcher for not running hard out of the batter's box, Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon said the criticism directed toward Willson Contreras is "over the top."

It's been a bit of a mystery why some young players haven't continued to grow offensively but Cubs Pres Theo Epstein isn't doing too much analyzing right now.
