Ozzie Albies has 2 hits, RBI in return as Braves improve to 18-6

MLB, Atlanta Braves

ATLANTA -- Second baseman Ozzie Albies returned to action and wasted no time making an impact with two hits, an RBI and a run scored in Atlanta's 6-2 win over Cleveland on Friday night.

Albies came off the 10-day injured list on schedule earlier in the day after sustaining a fractured right big toe when hit by a pitch on April 15.

He was hit on his right foot by a curveball from Houston rookie Spencer Arrighetti in an Atlanta victory. Albies remained in the game, not realizing he was injured until he took off his cleats.

Luis Guillorme and David Fletcher shared playing time at second base while Albies was out. The Braves went 7-1 during that time and improved to a major-league best 18-6 after winning Friday's matchup between MLB's two top teams.

Still, the team was eager for the return of Albies, a 27-year-old, three-time All-Star who was hitting .317 with two home runs and 14 RBIs.

Fletcher was outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett.
