Angel Hernandez, Ian Kinsler shake hands day after 2B's criticism

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Umpire Angel Hernandez shook hands on the field with Detroit Tigers second baseman Ian Kinsler on Wednesday night, a day after Kinsler said the veteran ump should find another job.

Hernandez was working second base for the finale of the Tigers' series against the Rangers. When Kinsler took his position for the bottom of the first inning, the two appeared to share a few words, before Hernandez walked up to Kinsler and shook his hand, then briefly put his hand on Kinsler's shoulder.

It wasn't clear who initiated the handshake.

"Angel just shook my hand," Kinsler said, without elaborating, when asked about the conversation and who initiated the handshake.

Asked if he was surprised about what happened, Kinsler responded, "No."

The Rangers won 12-6 to complete a three-game sweep.

Kinsler's critical remarks about Hernandez came before Tuesday's game, one day after he was ejected from the series opener for questioning balls and strikes while Hernandez worked behind the plate.

Hernandez said after Tuesday's game he didn't care what Kinsler said and was only concerned about doing the best job he can.
