Eleven-year-old Monmouth basketball fan lobbies NBA GMs to draft her favorite player

Monmouth Hawks, Detroit Pistons

Although Monmouth Hawks senior Justin RobinsonĀ is the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's leading scorer, there's no guarantee that his next destination is the NBA.

Don't tell that to the 5-foot-8 guard's biggest fan, though.

Eleven-year-old Erica Schaeffer has watched plenty of Robinson with her family's season tickets and is determined to see him play at basketball's highest level.

That's why she wrote detailed letters to all 30 NBA general managers explaining why her favorite player should be selected in this June's draft.

"My dad was telling me that Justin may go overseas," Schaeffer told the Asbury Park Press, "so that made me think that I would try to help Justin stay here because I want to see him play again. And just meeting him and how he's so nice, I wanted to see him play here and become an NBA player.

"I just wanted to tell the teams how nice he is as a person and how good he is as a player and how he can change their team."

Schaeffer's grassroots vouching did not fall on deaf ears. Detroit Pistons general manager Jeff Bower responded with a handwritten note while the Houston Rockets and Atlanta Hawks replied via email.

If Robinson does find himself on an NBA roster next season, he might want to consider hiring Schaeffer as the youngest agent in league history.
