UNC assistant C.B. McGrath to be next head coach at UNC Wilmington

UNC Wilmington has reached an agreement with North Carolina assistant coach C.B. McGrath to be its next head coach, sources told ESPN.

The deal is pending board approval, sources said.

McGrath replaces Kevin Keatts, who left earlier this month to become the head coach at NC State.

McGrath has been at North Carolina for 14 seasons, following Roy Williams from Kansas in 2003. He had played under Williams for four seasons at Kansas and began his coaching career on Williams' staff in Lawrence.

McGrath is known as an effective recruiter and was the point man on recent Tar Heel stars Marcus Paige and Brice Johnson, and current starters Joel Berry, Kennedy Meeks and Isaiah Hicks.

North Carolina plays Oregon on Saturday in the Final Four.
